About The Job

Location: Kitchener, Ontario

H2nanO is scaling-up our demonstration pilots and proving their capabilities in the field. We are seeking capable and ambitious engineering talent to contribute to the development, deployment and operation of these expanding projects. We are looking for a team player with expertise in environmental and chemical engineering systems and a strong project execution capability.

You will work on our process engineering team to design and implement demonstration systems; execute on-site treatment studies; undertake data analysis and reporting activities; and support key operational relationships. Your work will include travel to operating demonstration sites, including the potential for extended deployments on major projects, such as those with our partners in Alberta. You will also help us grow and manage our site operations, calling upon your strong capabilities for independent management of key activities and project direction.

Key Roles:

  • Contribute to the design and commissioning of H2nanO’s industrial and solar wastewater treatment systems.

  • Develop process designs including system specifications, engineering drawings (P&IDs, general arrangements, electrical line diagrams, piping isometrics, etc.), and assist in the sizing and procurement of process-mechanical equipment.

  • Create and modify drawings, 3D CAD models (e.g. - Solidworks, AutoCAD) and simulations (e.g. - COMSOL, ANSYS) for design of proprietary process equipment.

  • Operate pilot plant equipment for optimization and data generation, and create standard operating procedures.

  • Conduct on-site visits for treatment assessment and system audits and liaise with external parties such as suppliers, and subcontractors in the goal of project execution.

Supporting Roles:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop detailed designs, contract proposal documents, technical reports, design documentation and engineering drawings.

About You

You want to work for a scaling company, ready to make outsized changes in the water treatment field and green technology for Canada and the world. You have a bright and creative mind and are grounded by solid organizational, communication, and project management skills and want to get your hands on building new technology today.

Preferred Experience:

Training in the field of Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering including:

Bachelor of Applied Science or with 1+ year of relevant experience; or
Engineering Technologist Diploma with 3+ years of relevant experience.

  • Technical expertise in chemical and environmental systems design, selection and validation, ideally with new or advanced technologies.

  • Demonstrated success and experience in water and wastewater treatment project planning and design, or related fields, including knowledge of treatment unit process design and hydraulics.

  • Capability and confidence in completing hands-on work in fabrication and industrial system operation, including comfort in the operation of process machinery and controls.

  • Proven ability to manage relationships, project scope, and execution.

  • Experiential knowledge of industrial engineering design, project structure, and best practices.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and proficient in the preparation of conceptual and detailed design drawings and reports.

Additional Capabilities:

  • Experience in water treatment, environmental, and/or cleantech sectors, including water treatment and environmental field and/or lab work.

  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and Solidworks (or equivalents) in a professional environment. 

  • Experience in computational fluid dynamics simulations and calculations (such as ANSYS or COMSOL). 

  • Experience working in a water treatment lab or in environmental sampling.

  • Entrepreneurial disposition; experience in scale-up business and working in dynamic, fast-paced, and high-pressure projects.

  • Great taste in water!
