H2nanO is creating the next generation of water treatment and management technology. We are a growing environmental technology innovator, building solutions for hard-to-treat water contaminants, enhanced disposal, and water re-use to support sustainable industry. Using advanced materials and new process designs, H2nanO aims to improve the cost and efficacy of water treatment and management in mining, energy, agriculture, and other industries, including solutions such as treating water in Canada’s oil sands.

Term: 4-8 months (candidate dependent)
H2nanO is expanding our engineering team to enable continued advancement in our different treatment platforms. We are seeking ambitious technical engineering talent to contribute to the design and development of the equipment, systems, and processes that make up H2nanO’s technologies.
You will work with a talented team of engineers, scientists, and technicians at H2nanO and our partners to implement our treatment system demonstrations and commercial applications.

Process Engineering Intern Roles:
Contribute to the design of H2nanO’s industrial wastewater treatment systems.
Complete engineering calculations, develop process designs and system specifications, and size equipment.
Assist with procurement and maintenance of equipment. Liaise with external parties, such as suppliers and subcontractors.
Assist with creation of standard operating procedures and safe work protocols. Participate in project safety hazard assessments and reviews.
Design and conduct process optimization and data generating tests. Assist with the design, fabrication, and operation of test equipment.
Work with a multi-discipline team in developing new applications for H2nanO’s technologies.
Prioritization of safe work practice and contribution to a high-quality, high-integrity work culture.
About You

You enjoy applying your technical skills to solve problems quickly and resourcefully. You don’t shy from picking up tools to get a job done, and you would be described as handy. You want to get your hands dirty building the technology today and be a part of the team that will make H2nanO’s mission a reality.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Enrolled towards bachelor’s degree in applied science; Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or equivalents. Work integrated learning for equivalent college diploma programs are also welcome to apply.
Technical expertise and hands-on experience with any of the following: chemical dosing equipment, process pumping and fluids handling devices, electronics and lighting systems, heat exchangers, and controls.
Capability and confidence in completing hands-on work in fabrication and industrial system operation, including operation of process equipment and controls.
Understanding of safe work procedures and programs in industrial settings.
Knowledge of industrial engineering design, project structure, and best practices.
Experience applying methodical, organized, and iterative work practices and problem-solving to technical challenges.
Strong interpersonal communication skills and proficient in the preparation of project documentation and reports.
Additional Skills:
Experience in water treatment, environmental, and/or cleantech sectors.
Ambitious disposition; experience in new technologies and projects and working in dynamic, fast-paced, and high-pressure environments.

Working at H2nanO
The Process Engineering Intern role will join our Alberta team in the Greater Edmonton Area, contributing to upcoming projects developing water treatment and desalination technologies for mining and energy. Work will be full-time, on-site at our location and will include a variety of hands-on and desk work integrated with our team.
