Role & Responsibilities

You have a bright and creative technical mind, but are grounded by solid organizational, communication, and project management skills. You enjoy applying your technical skills to solve problems quickly and resourcefully. You want to get your hands-on a scaling technology today and be a part of the team that will grow and optimize our core materials design and production capabilities at the heart of making H2nanO’s mission a reality. 

Key Roles:

  • Materials Science & Engineering: Guide the development of advanced materials and surface treatments, integrating knowledge in materials chemistry, water chemistry, and thermodynamics to create efficient, resilient desalination systems. 

  • Collaboration & Engagement: Work closely with mechanical and systems design engineers, engage with suppliers, and collaborate with clients to refine and test module architecture. Contribute to funding proposals and support marketing and technology narratives. 

  • Computer-Aided Design & Modeling: Contribute to multi-physics simulations and economic analyses, supporting system optimization and cost-efficiency evaluations. 

  • Intellectual Property & Technical Writing: Collaborate on intellectual property development, including patent filings, and support scientific publications. 

  • Laboratory and Field Work: Conduct safe and precise experiments, leading lab and field testing to validate system performance in real-world conditions. 

Target Start: July 2026

Anticipated Compensation Range: $60,000 - $80,000 (to be determined by qualifications and experience)

Experience & Qualifications

Education: Master or Bachelor of Science/Applied Science with equivalent industrial experience in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related disciplines.

Experience: Proven record of leading R&D projects, including designing experiments and constrained optimization, ideally in both academic and industry settings.

Technical Expertise:

  • Expertise in desalination and water treatment technologies (e.g., membrane or distillation processes). 

  • Strong background in materials-based water technologies, such as ion exchange, catalysis, or superhydrophobic/superhydrophilic coatings. 

  • Foundational knowledge in materials science and synthesis, including nanomaterials, polymers, and inorganic chemistry. 

  • Strong analytical skills, especially in experimental design and statistical optimization. 

  • Proficiency with CAD tools and multi-physics modeling (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, OpenFOAM) is an asset. 

  • Rapid prototyping skills, including modular design, electromechanical assembly, and 3D printing is an asset.
