H2nanO’s recent achievement in Canada’s Oil Sands

H2nanO has reached a major milestone, scaling our SolarPass technology! This year, we completed the world’s largest-ever deployment of solar photocatalysis for water treatment, in partnership with Oil Sands Alliance members at the Imperial Oil Kearl mine.

Our goal over the last decade has been to create a practical, powerful, and carbon-efficient tool for organics treatment in mine water. This project realizes a first-of-kind demonstration at an active mine site, building on a foundation of years of rigorous science and engineering iteration.

LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR TECHNOLOGY

Solarpass

SolarPass is a passive advanced oxidation process that excels at destroying hard-to-degrade compounds. SolarPass harnesses sunlight to produce oxidants in-situ without energy and chemical inputs.

Target Contaminants

SolarPass acts as a self-regenerating adsorbent to concentrate and treat trace-level contaminants (ppm to ppt).

Powerful Oxidation, Simple Operation

Achieve stronger oxidative strength compared to conventional technology (ozone, peroxide, etc.)

Lower Treatment CapEx and OpEx

Remove the need for intensive treatment infrastructure. Low input and low waste volumes.
